Instructions:
1. Create the Base Card:
Print out the Cupcakes Recipe template onto the white A4 base card using either of the templates below (jpg or pdf)
|
|
3. Print our the cake tops (template below) onto the BACK side of your card, and cut them out.
I used a light pink card for my cake tops.
|
4. Print the Candles template (below) onto 3 pieces of A4 card - one for the candle stems, and two others for the candle flames, onto the BACK side of your card. Cut out the candle stems and flame pieces from their respective pieces of card.
I used light blue for the stems, and orange & yellow for the flames.
|
5. Print out the reversed "Happy Birthday " lettering onto the BACK side of your card (template below). Cut out your chosen combination of upper and lower case letters.
|
6. Assemble the six cupcakes.
First place double sided sticky tape along the lower edge of the FRONT of the cupcake top. You only want about 2-3mm of tape on the bottom, so if your tape is wider than this, apply it with the extra tape hanging off the bottom, peel off the protective layer and then fold the tape back on itself . Align the cupcake cases over the cupcake tops so that the edges are meeting, then press them down to adhere onto the top. |
8. Arrange all the pieces for the lettering and three of the cupcakes onto the base card until you have them sitting as you would like them. Don't stick them down yet.
I highly recommend that you take a photo of your layout one your phone so that you can refer back to it if required. This is especially handy when you get around to sticking down the letters. |
9. Start sticking down the cupcake pieces one by one. Do this one cupcake at a time, so that you don't lose your positioning of each piece.
First the candle stems, then the cupcake over that, followed by the flames. Use double sided tape or glue for this. |
10. Stick down the "Happy Birthday" lettering one word at a time.
I used a sticker maker for this. This is where the photo you took of the positioning will be handy, especially if you use a sticker maker and need to take off several letters at a time. If you are using double sided tape or glue for the letters, adhere them one at a time This will make the positioning of the letters easier. |
The inside of the card is next...
11. Now print out the template (below) for the floating cupcake on the inside of the card onto white card.
|
16. Stick the pop-up into place using double sided tape.
Position the tape as shown on the pop-up, then stick the pop-up in to the card, positioning it as shown in the photo. It is important that it sits firmly against the back of the card with the fold line of the pop-up firmly back against the fold line of the base card. |
17. Assemble the floating cupcake.
Firstly use sticky tape (not double sided) to attach the candle stem to the cupcake, as shown. Using double sided tape (or glue) attach the flame to the top of the candle stem. Make sure that no sticky is protruding at the back by putting the double sided tape onto the front of the candle stem, and then placing the flame on top of this. |
|
18. Attach the floating cupcake
First place double sided tape on the front of the pop-up tab, as shown. Then stick the floating cupcake onto tab. |
19. Work out your desired positioning of the last two cupcakes inside the card.
Stick the final two cupcakes into place using the same method as the front of the card: candle stem, followed by cupcake, and then flames.

That's it, all finished :)
